Cartwright Family Farms is a sustainable, fourth generation small family farm, located in Southern Virginia - in the Pungo agricultural community of Virginia Beach, VA. We humanely raise heritage breed Tamworth/Berkshire cross and Red Wattle/Tamworth/Berkshire cross hogs, farrow to finish.

Our hogs are supplemented with a Non-GMO feed, and are free of growth hormones, antibiotics & chemicals. We make our own hog feed right here on our farm using Non-GMO corn, soybean meal and peanut meal. Our pigs are free to roam and graze on native grasses and cover crops, and rotational grazing is implemented. We also have several woodland paddocks around our farm, where our hogs are provided with shaded areas, essential for summer months. Wallows - or ‘mud spas’ as we call them - are found in each pasture - it’s like a little slice of paradise here for our pigs! Pigs have no sweat glands, so they need wallows to cool down in; mud also acts as a natural sunscreen and bug repellent for them. Our hogs are allowed to be hogs. Free to roam, run, forage, eat bugs, enjoy the sunshine and ‘mud spas’, and feel the earth below their feet - the way God created them to live. They are treated humanely and with compassion, giving them a stress-free, happy life in their natural environment!

We use Acre Station Meat Farm for all of our butchering and processing, whom we have an excellent working relationship with. Our butcher is Animal Welfare Approved and USDA inspected, and we have been using them since 2015.

All of this results in superior quality, nutrient-dense meat with impeccable flavor and marbling, and a significantly better ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fatty-acids — compared to factory farm raised hogs. Real, clean, delicious, good-for-you food!

Thank you for supporting our small family farm!
