FIELD TRIPS & FARM TOURS

Cartwright Family Farms & Coastal Cattle host field trips & farm tours for public schools, private schools, homeschool groups & other organizations! ​

The field trip consists of a hayride around Coastal Cattle's farm where you can get up close with their Hereford cows, feeding Cartwright Family Farms’ pastured pigs, and petting The Meat Shack chickens, goat and sheep! We get everyone actively learning about each farm animal and engaging in farm activities - a hands on experience that makes learning fun! In the Spring, groups have the opportunity to pick strawberries; in the Fall, groups can pick pumpkins - all from Vaughan Farms Produce - the strawberry field/pumpkin patch are located right across from The Meat Shack!

Our first Farm To Table Dinner at The Meat Shack!

We had the pleasure of partnering with culinary artist, Chef Brent, and mixologist, Sasha, of Heirloom, [in Virginia Beach] in hosting our very first Farm To Table Dinner.

Chef Brent prepared appetizers + dinner dishes, including pork [grown on our farm] and pairings of other locally sourced & seasonal ingredients from Coastal Cattle, Cromwell’s Produce, Cullipher Farm and Seafield Farm [all local to Pungo & the Eastern Shore], as well as oysters [from the Eastern Shore]. Each course included wine pairings [wine rep from the Eastern Shore]. Live music by The Bee Keepers [VB Firefighter & wife duo] set the mood for a night to remember!

This event was held outdoors on the farm, overlooking Coastal Cattle’s cows grazing the pastures - a true farm-to-table experience!
